In the course of almost four glorious decades, the highly acclaimed Tygerberg Children’s Choir has set an international benchmark for even-voiced choral singing, and is regarded as one of SA’s proudest musical export products.
These highly talented children have, among many others, performed for ex-US President Bill Clinton as well as at the inauguration of Presidents Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki in 1994 and 1999 respectively. They have also performed for royalty such as HRH Queen Elizabeth and more recently HRH Prince Edward.
The Choir wins the hearts and souls of audiences wherever they go, and once heard, the vocal magic they bring forth can never be forgotten. They have won every possible major international choral competition, with recent highlights being a first place at the International Music Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales in 2006 and a second place at the coveted World Choir Games in Graz, Austria in 2008. The choir has been under the baton of world renowned choral specialist Hendrik D Loock, with Theresa Loock as accompanist and arranger. The Tygerberg Children’s Choir is also home of the superb vocal group, The Voice of Angels, that has taken the country by storm since July 2008.
Their latest album, Encore, is a celebration of the many standing ovations and encores the Tygerberg Children’s Choir has received over the years, and consists of well known choral favourites that will appeal to all lovers of choral music, albeit connoisseurs or listeners fortunate enough to experience this excellent choir for the very first time.
